Ingredients

  • 🍴100 gm soaked overnight urad dal
  • 🍴300 ml water
  • 🍴2 cup refined oil

For Dough

  • 🍴250 gm all-purpose flour
  • 🍴1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • 🍴1/3 teaspoon nigella seeds
  • 🍴1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • 🍴To make this easy recipe, soak the urad dal for 8-10 hours or overnight in water.
  • 🍴When the dal is soaked completely, blend the dal in a grinding jar, add a little water and grind it into smooth paste.
  • 🍴Now take a large bowl and add all purpose flour, salt along with sugar and kalonji in it, mix all the ingredients well. Add 3 tablespoon oil and mix it properly.
  • 🍴Then put the urad dal paste in the bowl and mix well in the flour mixture. Finally add the lukewarm water and knead the flour into smooth dough.
  • 🍴Once the dough is ready, cover with a muslin cloth and leave it for 20 minutes.
  • 🍴Then make small and equal size of balls from the prepared dough.
  • 🍴Take one dough ball and gently press it, dust it with plain flour and roll it into poori. Repeat the process to roll pooris of remaining dough.
  • 🍴Now heat oil in a deep bottomed pan and put the poori in hot oil very carefully.
  • 🍴Gently press the poori to help it puff and flip it to fry the other side. Take it out on kitchen towel to extract extra oil from it.
  • 🍴Repeat the process to fry the remaining pooris. Urad dal puri is ready, serve hot with your favorite curry/sabzi.
