Ingredients
- 🍴4 medium chopped onion
- 🍴1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 🍴2 pinches asafoetida
- 🍴water as required
- 🍴2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 🍴2 tablespoon urad dal
- 🍴10 red chili
- 🍴6 chopped tomato
- 🍴2 sprigs curry leaves
- 🍴2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 🍴salt as required
- 🍴4 cloves garlic
- 🍴2 teaspoon tamarind paste
Instructions
- 🍴Place a saucepan on medium heat and roast urad dal till it turns light brown. Then add 5 red chilies, cumin seeds, garlic, asafoetida, onion, and tomatoes and saute them together till the tomatoes are completely cooked. Let it cook.
- 🍴Add tamarind paste, salt and grind the sauteed mixture to a fine paste in a grinder. Add water if required. Keep this chutney aside in a separate bowl.
- 🍴For Tempering: Place another frying pan over medium flame and pour oil in it. Once the oil is heated, add 5 finely chopped red chilies and fry them. Then add curry leaves and mustard seeds and let it sputter. Pour it over the chutney. Your onion tomato chutney is now ready to be served with dosa, uttapam, idli, or vada.
