Ingredients
- 🍴2 inches ginger
- 🍴salt as required
- 🍴6 tablespoon powdered jaggery
- 🍴1 pinch cumin powder
- 🍴8 curry leaves
- 🍴1 tablespoon chana dal
- 🍴1 tablespoon grated coconut
- 🍴2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 🍴2 red chili
- 🍴6 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 🍴1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 🍴1 tablespoon urad dal
- 🍴1 large onion
- 🍴water as required
Instructions
- 🍴Cut the ginger into big pieces, chop the onions and keep them aside in separate bowls.
- 🍴Place a saucepan over medium heat and pour oil into it. Once the oil is heated, temper the mustard seeds, dry red chilies, and curry leaves. Add urad dal and chana dal, and saute till they turn light brown in color.
- 🍴Then add ginger pieces, chopped onion, salt, and cumin powder to the pan. Stir well and saute till the onion turns translucent. Put off the flame and allow this mixture to cool.
- 🍴Once cooled grind this mixture into a fine paste, adding water if required, using a grinder. Add grated coconut, powdered jaggery and tamarind paste to this mixture, and grind again into a smooth paste. Ginger Chutney is now ready to be served along with idli or dosa.
