Ingredients
- 🍴3 cup bottle gourd
- 🍴2 cup refined oil
For Filling
- 🍴1/2 cup khoya
- 🍴1 cup condensed milk
- 🍴1/4 teaspoon powdered green cardamom
- 🍴1 tablespoon flaked almonds
- 🍴1 tablespoon chopped cashews
- 🍴1 cup milk
- 🍴5 tablespoon sugar
- 🍴1 pinch salt
- 🍴1 tablespoon raisins
- 🍴1 tablespoon ghee
For Dough
- 🍴2 cup all-purpose flour
- 🍴1/2 teaspoon salt
- 🍴1 tablespoon ghee
Instructions
- 🍴To prepare this yummy dessert, prepare the filling first. For the same, wash and clean the bottle gourd, then grate it in a bowl along with its skin. Now, put a deep-bottomed pan on medium flame and add a grated bottle gourd in it. Cover the pan with a lid and cook until the moisture of the bottle gourd decreases.
- 🍴Meanwhile, add 1/4 cup of khoya in another pan followed by adding sugar, condensed milk, salt and milk (simple milk). Put the pan on medium flame and allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes.
- 🍴Carefully pour in the cooked bottle gourd in the milk-khoya mixture and stir well until the bottle gourd is completely mixed. Next, add raisin, chopped cashews, almond flakes, cardamom powder, ghee and khoya in the mixture. Cook for another 10 minutes. Once done, turn the gas off and keep the mixture aside.
- 🍴To prepare the dough, in a dough kneading plate, add all-purpose flour followed by ghee and salt. To this, add enough water and knead it into a smooth dough. Cover and keep the dough aside for 15 minutes.
- 🍴To prepare the modak - Divide the dough into equal portions. Now, take one portion and flatten it into a small circle. Carefully, add the prepared filling in the circle. Enclose the circle and secure its edges. Repeat the same process with the remaining dough.
- 🍴Put a deep-bottomed pan on medium flame and add refined oil to it. Carefully, add the prepared modak in the oil and deep fry them until they get brown in color. Transfer the modak into a serving tray. Enjoy!
