Ingredients
- 🍴6 bitter gourd
- 🍴1/2 cup finely chopped tomato
- 🍴1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 🍴2 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 🍴1 teaspoon powdered turmeric
- 🍴1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 🍴3 tablespoon mustard oil
- 🍴1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 🍴1 cup finely chopped onion
- 🍴2 tablespoon powdered jaggery
- 🍴1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 🍴1 teaspoon crushed to paste garlic
- 🍴1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 🍴1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 🍴salt as required
Instructions
- 🍴To prepare this delicious dish, wash and scrape the karelas and cut them into pieces. Add salt to them and keep aside for 30-45 minutes.
- 🍴Add them to a vessel with hot water and bring them to a boil until they become soft. Drain and keep aside.
- 🍴Heat oil in a pan over a medium flame and add mustard seeds to it and let them crackle. Then, add the fennel seeds (saunf) and chopped onions to and fry until they turn light brown.
- 🍴Add the garlic paste and tomatoes and saute them for a minute. Add the turmeric powder and then add the karelas and cook for a few minutes.
- 🍴Lower down the flame and add salt, chili powder, coriander powder, tamarind paste, jaggery to the dish and cook for a few minutes.
- 🍴Then, transfer into a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.
